Nominations Announced for 2010 Edward Manifold Stakes

September 28th, 2010

The nominations for the 2010 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) have been announced with a field of 29 potential runners preparing for the upcoming Group 2, $250,000 race.

Don’t forget that the 2010 Edward Manifold Stakes has been moved to Sunday, October 3.

On the heels of the announcement, a few potential competitors have already emerged as early frontrunners. This includes the Tony Noonan-trained Sussuro. Though the three-year-old filly has had limited starts this spring, she has been showing potential. This includes a fantastic run over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley earlier on this month. Noonan has nominated the daughter of Pivotal for the upcoming Edward Manifold Stakes in a bid to raise her rating ahead of the Group 1, $500,000 Thousand Guineas to be held on October 13.

Flemington based trainer Peter Snowden has nominated Divorces for the Group 2 event. The three-year-old filly put up an impressive showing in the Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) earlier on in the month. She also ran second to More Strawberries in this year’s Furious Stakes (1400m).

Divorces will be joined by Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) rival Sistine Angel. The Andrew Noblet-trained filly ran second to her fellow Edward Manifold Stakes nomination in the Guineas Prelude. This was preceded by a stunning first place finish in the McNeil Stakes in late August. Punters should watch for the daughter of Testa Rossa to seek some redemption in this upcoming Edward Manifold Stakes.

Don’t forget that the 2010 Edward Manifold Stakes has been moved to Sunday, October 3. It will be one of nine races to be held at Flemington Racecourse, which includes the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes and the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes. You can find the odds on all of these spring carnival races at Ladbrokes.com.au later on this week.
