Divorces Tops Edward Manifold Final Field and Betting Markets

October 1st, 2010

The final field for the Edward Manifold Stakes was announced and 13 top fillies will be taking to the track to run for a share in the $250,000 purse. The race is set to jump this Sunday, October 3 as one of nine races that were moved back one day to accommodate the AFL Grand Final replay.

Other top runners to consider in this field are Speed of Dark in barrier number two and Bacerra in barrier number four.

Flemington based trainer Peter Snowden is looking set for a win with his brown filly Divorces. The daughter of Domesday is currently holding the favourite odds with online betting sites at $4.40 to win. She’s in search of her second consecutive win after taking a big first place finish in the Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) two weeks ago. She also ran second to More Joyous in the recent Furious Stakes (1400m). Divorces is in fantastic position to take the 2010 Edward Manifold Stakes title after a very lucky barrier draw. She’ll be jumping from number one on the rails with jockey Mark Zahra.

The Bevan and Richard Laming-trained Ringa Ringa Rosie is looking like the top runner to steal the win. The bay filly had a fantastic run at Doomben in late August, but wasn’t quite up to scratch in her most recent outing as she finished 11th out of 14 in the Thousand Guineas Prelude. Nevertheless, the daughter of Bradbury’s Luck is listed at $5.50 odds to win. A better barrier draw will benefit the Laming filly as she is jumping from number three. Jockey Chris Munce is in the saddle.

Sistine Angel and Sayahailmary are sharing the third favourite position when it comes to the Edward Manifold Stakes betting markets. Both are listed at $10.00 to win. The former, trained by Andrew Noblet, has been in top form in recent outings, as she most recently ran second to Divorces in the Thousand Guineas Prelude. This was preceded by a first place finish in the McNeil Stakes at Caulfield (1200m). She may have a tough time taking the lead in this upcoming Group 2 event as she is jumping from barrier number 18, but a bet to place at $3.20 is looking like good value.

Other top runners to consider in this field are Speed of Dark in barrier number two and Bacerra in barrier number four.

The 2010 Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes is set to jump this Sunday, October 3 at Flemington Racecourse. It is one of nine races to be held at the famous track, including the feature Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m) and the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m).
